What is Ayurveda?

History

Ayurveda is the traditional, natural health science of India, which has been practised for more than 5000 years. Ayurveda means “Science of Life”. This knowledge has been passed on from teacher to student throughout the centuries, irrespective of the class from which they proceed.

Vision


In Ayurveda, the focus lies on the prevention of disease, the rejuvenation of the body and the increase of both the quantity as well as the quality of life.

Ayurveda teaches that by adapting a certain life style, most diseases can be prevented or cured, while at the same time improve the insight in oneself and the World in which we live. The result is that a long, happy and healthy life is available to everyone if the Ayurvedic principles are heeded to.


The tri-unity of body, mind and soul

Ayurveda is a science of life, which teaches the tri-unity of body, mind and soul. These are reflected likewise in the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, and the three pillars of Beauty, Wisdom and Strength.

In order to achieve health and happiness, it is essential that these three principles are in balance.

In order to prevent and cure diseases, or remedy shortages of life force, it is essential to have a basis insight in these three principles and their interrelations and dynamics.


Every person is unique


 

Since every person is unique, it is of the essence that there is always a first intake talk during which a general idea is formed about the person’s background.

An ayurvedic analysis is focusing on different aspects of the full personality: body type, personality and the relationship with others.

Aspects of an ayurvedic advice refer to food and feeding patterns, life style, use of medicinal herbs, yoga and meditation to increase, healing and maintaining one’s bodily and spiritual wellbeing.
